Korean Style Beef Ribs


Yesterday I was talking to an Indonesian mum while waiting for my daughter and she was surprised to learn that I cook dinner every night (except Friday — because that’s our takeaway dinner night).  She says she can’t do it because she is not a good cook.

Well, you don’t need to be a good singer to sing, you don’t need to be a good writer to write (eherm, as you can see), and you definitely don’t need to be a good cook to cook (again, eherm)!

This recipe is so easy to prepare you don’t need to be a good cook to do it.  And your family would appreciate that you have prepared something so good πŸ™‚


1 kilo beef ribs, cut into individual rib serving


2 garlic cloves, minced

2 mushrooms, sliced (no mushrooms? it will still work don’t worry)

2 shallots, cut into 2 inch chunks (no shallots?  just quarter a piece of onion)

1 1/2 teaspoons sesame seeds

7 tablespoons sugar

4 tablespoons soy sauce

What you need to do:

In a deep saucepan or casserole dish, place ribs.  Cover with water and bring to a boil.  Cover and cook for about 2 hours or until liquid has reduced by half.  Your meat would be tender by this time.

Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 15 minutes.

Serve over boiled rice.

Done.  See?  No need to be a good cook.  But they would think you are. πŸ™‚
