Beef with Whatever

I had to put “whatever” because in this recipe you can actually put whatever vegetable you have. Ever been stuck with what to cook for dinner and are in the mood for something simple and easy to make? Well, here is one, that my husband gave me an idea for.  It’s got simple ingredients and has veggies so you feel proud to have prepared something actually healthy!


about 500 grams minced beef

about 3 cloves of garlic, minced

a small onion, sliced

1 tablespoon soy sauce

3 tablespoons oyster sauce

Now here’s where the whatever comes in:

I used some green beans (sliced thinly), and some frozen peas and corn.  You could instead use (or add) mushrooms (button is okay, sliced or quartered), carrots (julienned or diced), canned corn (why not? drained), broccoli (cut into florets and stems), maybe even cauliflower, zucchini (cubed or however you want but don’t make them too small as they get soft), sweet peas, or WHATEVER you have in your fridge.


In a little bit of oil, sauté garlic.  Add onions.  Add the minced beef and cook, making sure there are no clumps of beef.  Add your whatever and stir fry until just cooked (I like my veggies still crispy).  Add soy sauce and mix for a few seconds.  Add oyster sauce and mix.  Turn off heat and serve either on a bed of steamed rice, or by itself. Enjoy!
